In a shocking turn of events, K Armstrong, the state unit president of the Bahujan Samaj Party in Tamil Nadu, was brutally murdered outside his residence in Chennai. One fateful evening, K Armstrong, the indefatigable leader of the BSP and erstwhile councillor of Chennai Corporation, was discussing various issues with his supporters near his home in Perambur. Suddenly, six men on bikes, with four of them disguised as food delivery agents, attacked Armstrong with machetes and sickles. Armstrong succumbed to his injuries despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital, thus creating a void in the community he served so diligently.

BSP chief Mayawati expressed her condolence and shock over the tragic incident through social media. “The senseless killing of K Armstrong, the state party unit president and a devoted and industrious leader of the BSP in Tamil Nadu, outside his Chennai home prompted shockwaves across society. The government should immediately take strict/necessary action to prevent recurrence of such incident,” she tweeted.
Mayawati also declared that she would visit Chennai on Sunday to pay homage to Armstrong and meet family members of the deceased. Reiterating the demand for justice, she asked the government to ensure deserving actions so that such incidents are not repeated.
Arrests and Demands for Justice
Subsequent to the heinous attack, Chennai Additional Commissioner, North, Asra Garg identified that eight suspects had been taken into custody with regard to Armstrong’s murder. The BSP supporters do not buy this and say the real culprits might still be at large. They have turned in demands for a comprehensive investigation and a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the case.
Apart from demanding a full-fledged investigation, BSP supporters have also been demanding the removal of the ADGP, intelligence, for his failure in arresting the situation. They are also demanding that Armstrong should be given state honors during his funeral.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condoled the death of Armstrong to his family and supporters. In a post on X, he said, “The police arrested those involved in the murder overnight. I would like to communicate my most profound condolences to all of Armstrong’s party, family, relatives, and companions who are dispossessed, and I have requested the police officers to conduct the case speedily and bring the guilty parties to equity as per the law.”
